Crude oils highly complex mixture of hydrocarbons containing waxes, paraffin’s, resin sand certain unwanted gases like hydrogen sulphide and carbon dioxide. It is often found along with natural gas, carbon dioxide, saltwater, sulphur compounds and sand. Typically, these substances are separated out from the liquid hydrocarbons at processing facilities near the producing field.As the exploration and production has been rising steadily over the years throughout the globe, the challenge of controlling a sphaltene and paraffin deposition during transportation, storage and processing in the heavy crudes has increased. This intum is driving demand for Pour point depressants since heavy grade crude oil is asphaltic and requires more use of PPD’s as compared to light grade crude oil.
